Shallow Col

In my life I've been lucky enough to have known some fantastic-looking and fantastically-talented people.

Some of you may not know the plot of the film "Shallow Hal". The star, Jack Black, is a bit of an acquired taste. Like Marmite, you either love him or hate him. Apart from his comedy acting I love his band Tenacious D. Anyway, in the film Hal is told by his dying father "l want you to promise that no matter what you do in life, you will never ever settle for average". He is talking about women and goes on to say "find yourself a classic beauty with a perfect can, and great totties."

So, the slightly-chubby Hal grows up chasing women that are outwardly attractive. All this changes when he is stuck in a lift and hypnotised by a celebrity motivational speaker to look for inner beauty. Hal subsequently falls in love with a massively overweight girl, who in his eyes is the delectable Gwyneth Paltrow.

Maybe I've been guilty of shallowness? Shiny cars, the latest gadgets, scenic places I've lived in. My love of beauty extends to the women in my life. I love drawing them, photographing them, looking over at them whilst they're sitting in the passenger seat of my car. I wouldn't quite go so far as to say that I've gone out with or hung around girls merely for their looks, but there's an element of it. Being associated with beautiful girls certainly doesn't harm my image.

Me, shallow?... yes, but not as bad as I used to be.
Do I like making people jealous?.... just a little bit ;)
